Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy - Intentions for 2021

Though some may be more intentional about their intentions for the new year, I’m going to free-write a few to share here- easy peasy lemon squeezy.

  • Actually play the button box I spur-of-the-moment purchased during the pandemic lock-down. Felt like a good idea at the time, and so now it’s time to actually learn how to play a song or two.

    • Actions- Purchased a beginner book titled “How to Play the Diatonic Button Accordion Vol. 1” Wish me luck.

  • Host a real life in-person housewarming party. All this nesting must be shown off. The organizing, re-organizing, stress-organizing of plants (because that is something I do), stress-purchasing of plants and used furniture and knickknacks, and cleaning must be seen by other humans. I’m sure the time will come- hopefully before it’s winter again.

    • Actions- wait and see.

  • Try take out at all the local restaurants in my new area.

    • Actions: We are well on our way in trying new places and finding new favorites. My current obsession- Mayan Sun lattes at the Coffee Hag in Mankato, and Pho from Pho Anh in Mankato.

  • Be proactive about making improvements in our new house. It is old, and though in good shape, things wear out. Already in need of repair is the downstairs faucet and an under-cabinet light. Learning when to DIY and when to call for help is half the battle.

    • Actions: I’ve already reached out to an electrician about the light (I’m thinking electrical work is beyond me in a 130 year old house), but I’m ready to tackle the faucet once I figure out how to take it apart…. Also on my list is a new roof and getting an estimate to replace the carpet I practically poured a gallon of paint onto- we’ll get there.

  • Drink more tea.

    • Action: Buy more tea. There is a tea shop in Mankato- I’ll be stopping by soon to pick out a new selection as I’m running low on teas I like.

  • Read more books, especially all the books on my shelf that I’ve held onto but have yet to read.

    • Actions: I’ve already made a considerable dent in the month of December. I also have found friends on Facebook who seem to have the same idea, and I hope to trade books with them this year. I’ve already received a book from a friend that I’ve really been wanting to read. My only problem is making it through long, difficult books. I resolve to take breaks but not give up on them, unless they’re just bad. Why waste time on a bad book.

  • Use our pop-up camper. Make it the ultimate glamp trailer. Yes, I’ve become one of “those people”. Take it on the road for a month- I haven’t told work yet… shhhh don’t tell them…. this way we can visit family but not impose on them or worry about where to stay if the pandemic is still pandemic-y. Who wants to go CAMPING?

    • Actions: see https://www.thepopupprincess.com/ for more on things I plan on doing to some degree.

    • I don’t see myself going so far as to repaint the cabinets or redoing the floors in our pop-up because SOMEONE ELSE ALREADY HAS FOR US wahoo. I have already reupholstered the cushions. There are a few other fixes which I’m planning to tackle in nicer weather- fixing the vinyl window with new vinyl and vinyl glue, sealing the seams on the outside where someone else already ripped out and rebuilt the front of our camper because it had water damage (double wahoo), cleaning the canvas, and fixing up the lighting in the camper. Otherwise, we’re in pretty good shape.

Since the theme of 2020 was chaos, I’ve decided that the theme of 2021 will be “chill the f’ out”- in other words, easy peasy lemon squeezy. How am I doing? What are some of your intentions for 2021? And who else out there wants to go camping? Hit me up!
